Trump has gone bankrupt six times. Does he really think such tactics can suppress China?

特朗普破产过6次，想用这样的手段吓中国？

In a conversation, Gao Zhikai, Vice President of the Center for China and Globalization (CCG), pointed out that Trumps global tariff war triggered a series of domestic issues in the U.S., most crucially, a serious impact on the quality of life of ordinary Americans.

交流中，全球化智库（CCG）副主任高志凯指出，特朗普发动全球范围的关税战引发了美国国内一系列问题，最关键的是美国老百姓的生活质量受到严重影响。

Gao noted: “Many Americans discover while paying their bills — why is it so expensive? Look closely, it’s because of tariffs. Are Americans really willing to pay those? Won’t they vote with their feet?”

高志凯谈到：“很多老百姓在付账单的时候发现，怎么多收了我这么多钱？仔细一看，是要付关税，美国老百姓会心甘情愿支付吗？他们不会用脚投票？”

He continued, “In 2026, the U.S. will hold its midterm elections. In 2028, there will be another presidential election. Will the Democrats return to the White House then?”

“2026年美国要中期选举，到2028年美国又要进行下一届总统选举。明年共和党会不会成为‘跛脚鸭政府’？下次总统选举，民主党会不会又回到白宫？”

He remarked that Trump’s behavior is full of uncertainty, because in essence, he is lying to the world — lying to China, to Americans, and to the world.

他表示，特朗普的所作所为充满不确定性，因为他实际上是在诓诈全世界，诓诈中国，诓诈美国老百姓。

“Back when Trump was doing real estate deals in Manhattan, he went bankrupt over six times and sued more than 4,000 times,” Gao said.

“特朗普原来在曼哈顿做地产交易的时候，破产过6次，打了4000多次的官司。”

“What kind of person walks what kind of path? When someone like that becomes President of the United States and tries to mess with the whole world through these methods, thinking he can defeat China, this is nothing more than delusional thinking.”

“什么样的人走什么样的路，遇到这样的人当美国总统，他现在要折腾全世界，想要通过这样的方法取胜，就能把中国给吓回去，实际上这是痴心妄想。”

"In conclusion, we must stand our ground and do the right thing."

“总之，我们要站稳自己的脚跟，坚持做正确的事。”

“In this tariff war, there are two key things: first, to firmly safeguard China’s legitimate rights and interests; and second, to resolutely protect the principle of free trade. If we do well on both fronts, I believe we can bring down this ‘paper tiger’ of the U.S.,” Gao Zhikai said.

“在这场关税战保卫战，有两点很重要。第一，坚定不移地捍卫中国正当的合法权益；第二，坚定不移地保护自由贸易这一重要原则。在这两方面做好，我觉得我们一定能把美国这个‘纸老虎’打下去。” 高志凯说。
